March 5, 2026 Preview — KITESURFING: EPIC
NO-GO — Light winds tomorrow
Thursday’s session window (12-4pm) peaks at only 13kts with inconsistent thermal support. Synoptic base collapsed to ~10kts overnight — not enough for reliable sessions.
Wind Tomorrow 10-13kts ENE, building slowly through thermal window. Peak around 1-2pm but still marginal. Gust ratio 1.5-1.7x indicates choppy, unreliable flow. Far-field buoys show strong trades offshore, but local pattern has shifted with rising pressure (+2hPa/3h).
Current evening conditions (21kts/25g) represent today’s peak — tomorrow starts from a much weaker synoptic foundation.
Waves Tomorrow Windswell drops to 1.7m@7s ENE by afternoon — reduced from today’s 2.1m. Still organized bumps but smaller energy. Groundswell building: outer buoys showing 1.1m vs Pauwela’s 0.7m suggests new NW swell arriving, but timing uncertain.
Equipment Preview If marginal conditions materialize: 5.0m kite, 26m lines, HA1080, Glide220, 85cm mast. But frankly, barely worth rigging.
Session Windows All Thursday slots (12-2pm, 1-3pm, 2-4pm) show similar weakness. Best case scenario puts peak at 15kts around 2pm, but forecast confidence is low given the pattern shift.
3-Day Outlook
- Thu 3/5: NO-GO — 13kt peak, weak thermal
- Fri 3/6: NO-GO — 15kt peak, building slowly
- Sat 3/7: Possible improvement to marginal
Watch Pressure trend continues rising — synoptic pattern weakening. New groundswell arrival could change wave picture overnight. Check conditions in morning, but don’t expect much from Thursday’s session window.
Small Craft Advisory expires 6pm Thursday, reflecting the weakening pattern.
